Wheeler Lake in May...

Looks like the trip plans have changed, and thats good. I came over Hoosier Pass this last Friday, 5-7-10, and looking up the draw past Montgomery Res, you can see where the Wheeler road goes, and its nothing but snow. IMHO, Best to plan this run, later in the year, say mid July or so.

i would be intrested in running some stuff in around old stage! my cruiser is having some major Death Wobble, but i can always take the 4runner if we are doing some mild stuff!

I didn't see reynolds on trail dammage. Is it called something else or can ou at least tell me how tough it is. I met a few guys at rainbow falls one with a cool looking 4 runner and the other with a jeep cherokee and I lent them a strap and helped pull the runner off some rocks. He was having some fun and slid into a tree stump and no way to back up without help. The guy in the jeep cherokee I think owns a toyota too and said someone needs to start a club around here. I told them about our club and they were maybe going to try to make the meeting. We exchanged numbers and when you guy's pick out the trail I'll give them a call to see if they can make it.

By the power of “Gray Land Cruisers….”
I have christened thee “Fainting Goats Trip” now decide where you are going!! :meh:

Since we don't seem to able to make a decision on what trail to run I can throw out the weather may be a factor depending on how much snow we get between now and Saturday. I have heard forcasts that very from 1-3 inches to 1-2 feet.

Saran wrap needs some Drainage issue addressed, im sure they are just getting worse up their.. But we would need nice soft dirt, Digging though frost will not be fun  what we need to do is address the issue, and figure out what to do to slow down the erossion, and what tools are needed. i would think that the shortcut back to the eagle rock hill will get closed if we dont do anything about it..

Unfortunately, I probably won't know if I can make this run until Friday night. Got a lot going on right now. I'm not going to put my vote in for what trail we run if I don't know for sure I will be there. Otherwise, being I am the failed trip planner, I would go ahead and pick something.

im possibly going camping.. If i go up old stage, i will meet you guys up there..

If it snows 2 feet, im either not going camping, or going camping in a lower elevation..

either way, i cant lead or commit to this one..

This is kind of last minute but I will be going to Penrose to run Liberty in the morning. A friend of mine's son is here on leave from the military and wants to go on a run. It's supposed to be a high of 65 tomorrow so the weather should be good but does have a chance of rain in the afternoon. I will be at the parking area between 10:00am and 10:30am so if anyone wants to join us you can meet us there at that time.

My cell is 649-9180 if want to contact me about this run.

Everyone who is going to Mt. Baldy / Bull run let me know. I'll be happy to lead the trail. The meeting place is normally the south location (safeway on HWY 115) But I have made a vow to never run Old stage road ever again so I will be meeting you up on the trail. If noone posts up, I guess I won't be going.

anybody want to take ownership of this thing? Had to twist a lot of arms at work to get tomorrow off. Not so sure my Cruiser could handle Liberty but would love to do something local. I can't positively remember where the entrance to Reynolds Wrap is but plan to meet anyone who can come at the South Nevada Safeway at 8-8:30.

Sorry Luke, your post wasn't showing yet when I was typing mine. I can round up the group from town and meet up there. Where to you want to meet at? Should we plan on bringing any tools for working on the trails, or just scout out what needs to be done later?

Sorry guys, have to bail on this one. The card just didn't work out in my favor. Got the transmission all put in early this week, Then had to wait on the cylinder heads. They came in thursday and I got most everything buttoned up today, the engine fired right up tonight and the rig moved back and forth when put in gear........but for some reason it loads up and dies when you try to put load on the engine. Bummer. Chuck, Mike and I tried to figure it out tonight to no avail. I think it's an intake gasket problem, will find out tomorrow. I did get to drive it around the block and the transmission works perfectly, I'm pretty excited about that. Anyway, if anyone needs directions tomorrow, call me and I can probably help over the phone.

P.S. Old stage road is a PITA to drive up with all the washboards and switchback turns, seems to always beat crap out of me and the rig, and that's considering my rig rides like a Lincoln town car. The drive down from Victor is much nicer, I guess its just a preference thing.

Mike and I took Tyler down to Penrose to show him the trails down there. Ryan called to say that no one else showed up for the Renolds Wrap/ Bull Park run so he came down to look at the trail with us. The entrance to Liberty was a little muddy and torn up. It was pretty much point and slide down. If it was raining later in the day and we needed to get out that way it would be difficult. Ryan walked the trail and we were having a hard time keeping up with him. When we stopped for lunch Ryan headed out while we pushed on to the intersection of Patriot, Independance and Liberty. Four rigs were parked at the intersection and the group there said about seven rigs were up Patriot so walked up there to see what was going on. We spent a good three hours watching them get out. Most needed to get winched but two or three drove out. We then walked Independance and decided we should make an attempt to get out this way. We used winches mostly for a feeling of security and we made it out. I did get a couple of scrapes and knocked off my left rear tail light lens on the exit. We took some pictures but they are on Mike's camera so I will have to get copies and post them up.

The weather ened up being great all day with only a few rain drops when we were watching the rigs on Patriot. I wished I had shorts on most of the day.
