I've noticed that a lot of people are running wheel spacers with the older version of the TRD Pro rims. Spidertrax 1.25" seems popular.

Is this a necessity for clearance, improved aesthetics, correcting the offset, or something else? I did a search, but I'm not seeing what I'm looking for.

I'm asking because I picked up a set of TRD Pro rims, that I will run with my 285 BFG AT KO2s, once I get them swapped over. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to need wheel spacers to fit them. I'm on a stock suspension with factory alignment specs, no drawers, and no armor.

If I need them, I'll order them, no big deal, but if I don't need them, I'd rather not put them on, since it is one more thing to corrode - I drive this as a daily driver, they salt our roads, so corrosion is inevitable out here.

Thanks!

285/60? 65? 70? Makes a big difference.

They'll fit exactly like your current rims. Same offset, same diameter, and you're adding the same tires. Larger tires need the spacers to clear the front KDSS Bar, and get the scrub radius back nearer to spec.

Not sure I follow. Lots of us running larger tires w/o spacers. Unless I’m missing something.

I realize lots of folks run larger tires with no spacers up to ~33.5" dia or so. Myself included.

Here's a good explanation of Scrub Radius Spacers, scrub radius, etc?

Tires approaching 34" in diameter have issues rubbing on the KDSS Bar without a bit less offset than the factory 60mm.

That said, I'd bet the most likely reason folks run spacers on tires less than ~33.5" is largely for the "better stance" which is purely cosmetic when you get down to it.

I had my bfgs swapped over and had them mounted, they fit great. I can see why people use spacers, they look pretty far in without, but I don't have any rubbing/contact, so I'm happy. Thanks all.
