hey guys. im looking at different transmissions and finding different serial numbers on the trannys. but still no way to tell what trans is from what year cruiser etc. Then I found this little toyota transmission serial number list. It looks like the first number used is the year and the letter is for the month. what im wondering is, can this method be used on the cruiser transmissions? i.e. A440F vs. A442F

attached is the pdf for the codes that i found. top pic i think would be 1993 June

and the second pic would be 1990 November

All these "experts" here and no one can answer this question? No one can look under their truck and cross check with their vin? There have to be some people that work at toyota who can confirm or debunk this theory, right???

I'm not an expert but I checked the ID plate on my 96 model FZJ-80 and compared it to my VIN; none of the numbers from the transmission ID plate correlate to the VIN itself. On the driver's door there is a vehicle ID card, on that is the model number of the transmission; for my truck it says A343F but that does not correlate exactly to the plate that is on the transmission. The top line of the transmission plate has Model No. 30-43LE followed by Part 35000-60390, and the stamped numbers underneath that is the serial number which starts with 95T and that correlates to the year it was manufactured. HTH.

What year/model 80 do you have and what does the VIN card/plate on the driver door say?
