Re: 1981 BJ42 with PO swapped 13 B with aftermarket turbo and possible non stock transmission

Where are the markings on my
transmission to identify it?

Thanks

I believe on the transmission oil fill side, there should be a Toyota stamp with some ID.

Looks like a yota trans

Thank you. Based on the info I posted, can anyone tell me the month, year and what model LC this came in from the factory?

Tell us more: is it a 4 speed or a 5 speed?

The markings indicate that the housing was cast by “Mountain” or “3 Mountains”— Aisin Takaoka.

Late September 1980.

Thank you. 4-speed, believe the truck is from Canada and 13B may be from a Dyna BU 62 or similar but don’t know how to determine month and year of the engine ( see pic of engine number photo below)

Your interpretation of the transmission markings matches my VIN (see photo) of the truck so this transmission may be the stock transmission. That information you provided is extremely helpful because I am having trouble getting a replacement slave cylinder to work properly and was questioning whether it was a stock transmission. The slaves keep failing.

Added a pic of the engine for fun.

Thanks again
