Transfer leak

this guy has been leaving pools on the floor. any reference for what the name of this is or how big/hard a job it is to fix?

4wd shift rail or front drive disconnect. You can drain tcase, pull the housing for the 4wd shifter and replace that seal, reinstall housing. Sometimes there is not enough room between tcase & frame to get that housing off.

there is also a rubber boot that goes over the shaft to protect the seal. Several of the good vendors here have them in stock.

Without the boot the selector shaft might have had dirt on it and abraded the seal lip. That leading edge before the grove for the boot looks like it took a few hits. Best clean that up with a file before the new boot goes on.
