Transfer case housing leak

I need to purchase the manual. What is EPC? I am slowly going through the car and this leak is pretty small so I am not stressing it but I’d like to get an idea of what it’ll take to fix it. I’ve replaced all the shocks/ changed all fluids/ new tie rod/ relay rod ends and will begin replacing coolant hoses here soon.
EPC = Toyota electronic parts catalog

You do not NEED to buy a manual (you can if you just have to have a printed manual, that someone else printed); there's one in the Resources forum for free. All the manuals marked "FSM" are genuine Toyota manuals.

FWIW, use only genuine Toyota hoses and clamps. Using SAE hoses are a crap shoot. Oh, and the KTC hose clamp tool is a lifesaver.

You can find these cheaper, but not much cheaper, elsewhere. Try Dave Stedman at Japan4x4.com

You want the AE921 AND the BE3-Q (3/8" drive) spinner for it. The spinner allows you to use your fingers to get the clamp closed and still get a ratchet handle on the tool. Very clever. FWIW, there are also BE2-Q and BE4-Q spinners, 1/4" and 1/2" drive, respectively.

If you don't want to pay overseas freight, Whale Supply has a large selection of KTC tools. The tools in the Toyota toolbag are KTC.

Thanks man, appreciate the help. I am having the tie rods installed later this week so I may have them spot the leak while it’s up on the lift. The leak makes no sense. Car has sat for 3 days and has one drip of ATF on the cardboard underneath it. I just don’t get how there’s oil at the front of the transfer case but it’s not gear oil and then ATF is coming out of the transfer case 😂

I'm betting on the pan...

If it is the pan how would it get to the transfer case if the vehicle hasn’t moved. I feel like it can’t be the transfer case just because there is no gear oil. Pain leak would be an easy fix. Seems straight forward to drop the pan.

You'd be surprised how well ATF (and oil, for that matter) climbs around on the undercarriage; I always am.

FWIW, the parts diagram I posted may not be the case you have (the image is from the US service manual), but it illustrates the parts.

Also, the service manuals inthe Reousrces forum, unless marked otherwise, are for the US domestic models. They'll get you close for most work, if you can't find a JDM manual.

Yeah I’d like to find out if the JDM trans and transfer case are the same as the US

I'd bet @Beno would know

The transmission ID should be on a tag on the side.
