Great thread! Enjoyable to read!

As the mariners say: fair winds to you; fair winds and a following sea.

Ah, thanks. It actually looks like the one in this link. For GXL without sensors, K20010R. It seems if you have sensors, the tire will set them off if you don't replace the whole bumper. I like the fact that it retains the factory bumper and its made of alloy. I wonder if there is a way to disable certain sensors...I wonder if we can even get that in the US without a lot of hassle....Anyway, sorry for hijack, carry on

Edit: looks like its about $1000 USD, ouch

Where is the full blog of your trip in English? Enjoyed reading it and would like to see the full log with pictures. I wonder if anyone has done this trip in a newer 2010+ G Wagon

You can visit our blog when you cant wait for an update: Trans-Africa

The blog is here but in German, I don't think he wrote a full one up in English. Google translate doesn't give 100% correct translation but enough to get by

There's also the pan-America trip if you haven't seen it yet.

Adventure-Overland: Transafrica - Panamericana and next?

Interesting that you went down the western way. If you want non toxic beaches come by the East some time =)
