Tranny question

Before I climb under my trucks with my tape measure to figure out if my trannies are the same only to come up with the conclusion that I still haven't got a clue, I thought I'd ask here 1st.

I have A 1993 Toyota 4x4 22re std cab and a 1994 Toyota 2wd 22re std cab. The motor from the 94 is currently in the 93. My syncros or linkage in the tranny from the 93 has been giving me problems in 3d and 4th gear ( it's not fully seating in the shifted position and sometimes pops back out of gear). What I need to know is opinions on which it sounds like and also if The trannies are the same regardless of the 2wd vs 4x4. Both are manual.

Check the info sticker on the drivers door jam of both trucks to see what Trans' they have. It should say something like: A/TM G292/W56 Where G292 is the axle code and W56 is the transmission.

If they are not the same you may be out of luck, because you will need to swap the rear halve of the trans' to retain the 4wd section to bolt to a transfer case.

just checked the tags and the 94 2wd a/tm is a01a/w55 and the 93 4x4 is b03a/w56 so looks like I may be outta luck.

Hmmm the W55 may just be the 2wd version of the W56????? If I were you I'd call marlin Crawler and ask them. They have helped me with a question or 2 in the past.
