Hi all,
What is the shortest (read smallest diameter) tire that I can safely put on the truck for loading/unloading the rig from an enclosed trailer? It turns out finding a tall enclosed trailer with 7K axles is a pain so I'm hoping to make the truck fit a ~80" door. Biggest issue seems to be finding small tires that can handle the weight, so hoping you all can let me know if this is possible. Thanks!

If you're squeamish, look away

Man, you are in the land of custom enclosed trailers due to proximity to Glamis, I'm surprised you can't find anything. Both of my last two enclosed trailers were extra height and had an 84" tall rear door opening. I dont think tire size matters, find the smallest tire that can fit on the smallest wheel you can fit over your brakes. As long as the tires hold air, i wouldn't be concerned with "capacity" as you aren't driving on them other than to load/unload. I'd exhaust every option to NOT do that though, what a pain. They make those solid rubber wheels with multiple patterns now that you see project cars on, maybe work for you:

I hear you. I've been surprised this is such a chore. Only have an open car hauler, so never thought much about it. I didn't figure a 24'-28', 90" rear door, and 14K gvwr trailer would be hard to find! The sand car crowd seem to focus on width and drive over wheel wells not so much height. Found a Haulmark and Cargomate triple that get me the payload and height, but man they don't seem durable. Maybe I should just be patient and wait until dune season is over.

or....go full redneck which is super tempting

You can get what you’re after, but its going to cost you over $30k unless you shop like a hawk.

My current trailer is a 2 axle 10k gvw continental 24’ extra height. I would not put a 6000lb rig in it……chassis is just not build for that weight.
