any reason for the double support struts?

Yes. More lift when placing the struts forward on the lid to eliminate using a longer strut further to the rear... where it might obstruct access.

kowboy,

I tacked the frame together and took it to the shop and hand them bend it. I would take the frame to them. They will take measurements and do the work. Keep in mind that if you are lucky it will come out perfect. however be prepared to cut some of your tack welds to make micro adjustments. All said I am extremely happy with it and am glad I out sourced the work. At $38 it was a no brainer!!

How heavy do you think the lid is?
Looks great:beer:
Gonna be there myself in about two weeks or so and may copy your idea if you don't mind:beer:

not sure but it is getting heavy

Ok it's been a few weeks almost finished welding on the skin!

awesome lid..... X3 or 4 on having the shop bend it, well worth the time saved and the good looking quality of the lid.

cheers

Now I need to recruit some O lineman from the local high school to hold it in place so I can weld it to the trailer. This thing is not light. I can wrangle it on my own but will need a hand to move it outside and on the trailer.

Be a damn-fine deal if'n you could slide that thang onto the ol' bathroom scale ... sure would help me out choosin' the gas struts for my trailer lid sir.

:flamingo:

I love the Lid idea's. They both look great. I do like the lower style that Dingdong posted a picture of. But both are nice.

I hate looking at the trailer posts on this site, nothing but new idea's.....

X2, any finished picks ?
