I think mine was in a box behind the backseat, but it's been a few years since I bought my truck.

My 2008 came with the hitch wiring also.

That's helpful. They want $178 for the part. The only thing that came in my glovebox was this:

This is a picture of the pigtail for a trailer brake harness. Tere is a very good and complete thread in this forum on Mud that details where this connection is hidden behind the dash.

As others have stated, my US spec 2013 has the trailer connector (a standard blade type 7 way) on the passenger side of the spare tire. I'll have to look at mfg date, but I think it is likely a June or July 2012.

Thanks gents! I shared your info with the dealership and they ordered one for me. It's supposed to be here tomorrow!

I just ran into this issue myself and had a similar experience with the dealer. They tried to charge me $180 as well. Ended up buying one on eBay for $50. It came with the mounting bracket that bolts to the cross member. There are 2 - 10mm bolts that secure the harness to the mounting bracket. Then, you will need 2 - 12mm bolts (not sure of the actual bolt size and thread pitch) to secure the mounting bracket to the cross member. Then, simply connect the harness plugs to the existing plugs underneath the vehicle, near the spare tire, towards the rear.

Just bought my 2016 2 weeks ago and the same set of wires were in the glovebox. I took it to our trailer/RV dealership to install my brake controller and the tech asked for it. He knew exactly what it was and where it goes.
