Add a couple of "C" clamps; a sturdy bumper becomes a pretty good metal working bench. Haven't seen any mention of a DC welding kit. Also add a couple of jack stands for safe working under a jacked up vehicle. I have a complete set of coolant hoses and a few hose clamps shrink wrapped to a piece of fiberboard.

In general jack stands are a luxury, most times you just jack the rig up and toss a wheel under the diff if you need to.

Just to put another spin on the discussion of taking too many tools, my LX has very close to 300k miles. I take great care of her but stuff happens. And at 300k the chances of something going South is much higher then a truck with a 1/3 of those miles.

I was just reading through this whole thread because I figured it was a good time to take a look at the supplies/tools and such being as its the new year.

I got this idea from "The Wagon Way" website. Find a used 12 volt rechargeable drill (I found a Dewalt), remove the battery and wire it with clips to hook up to, and run off of, the the vehicle battery. I haven't needed it yet and probably won't until I leave it at home.

Great lists, but has anyone weighed all that stuff? Guess I'll have to leave my wife at home...
