Dang. For $1k, you could sell your hidden mount and put all that money towards a real front bumper 😁👍😉

SDHQ has a new hidden winch mounting. It appears to be a very sturdy mount but costs more that twice the Trail Taylor mount. I want to mount a Badland APEX 12,000 winch on my 2016 LC. Does anyone have experience with the SDHQ mount, and do you have observations or recommendations?

Sorry I spelled Trail Tailor wrong! :(

I've been following that since they announced that they were prototyping. A much better solution than the Trail Tailor and price is tempered somewhat as it includes a relocation kit and Factor 55 1.5" fairlead. Weight is claimed at 40 lbs, minus the 35 lbs removed.

But now Dissent has a new low profile bumper that looks nice incorporates a similar winch mount at about 20lbs more.

Here's a couple pics from my install:

If you notice, I also had to notch out the center support a bit.

I don't know what you think makes it better than the Trail Tailor, but I have been running the Trail Tailor for a year or two and don't have a single complaint.

Not mention that the SDHQ mount is more than twice the price.

It’s just my opinion, no need to get bent out of shape. I just prefer the more bumper backup structure in the wings and to me a more definitive control box mounting, but then prices are not comparable.

Sorry if my tone came across as bent out of shape. I was not. I just wanted to say I haven't had a single complaint with my install. It is a good product.

I’ve not heard any specific complaints on the TT either. It is a strong winch foundation and hides winch as intended. Now we have 2 1/2 versions (I ran across a 3rd hidden mount from Australia that does seem to have ever come to the US). Only complaint I’ve heard, at it’s to all hidden mounts in general, is that Slee will no longer install one as they don’t believe it’s good to not have visible and physical access to the drum while line is spooled in.
