Luke and I will be working on the trial schedule for this year. Some of 2011 trail runs were not well attended, we can only guess as to why. We will try to mix it up a bit but if folks want to see certain types of trail runs please chime in.

Due to weather conditions Jan. is usually our Schubarth snow run, Feb. China Wall and Mar. is one of the Gulches. We can try again to do a snow run up north more around where Rising Sun goes.

Beuna Vista weekend will be changed to August. For this I think we can have an option for those that want to base camp and hit trails and then another option for more of an expo type experience where we camp at different locations.

Post up if there are any trails you are just itching to do. Also post up for level of difficulty, more expo type etc.

We will try to have a preliminary schedule to go over at the January meeting. Look for a separate post soon for the Jan. trail run.

I like the expo camping option.

And it seems that you could set it up that people could do it either way and still join up to do the same trails.

New trail planning method

Luke and I did some initial planning on this and got about half the trails lined out. We then started talking about the pros and cons of putting together a set schedule and decided to put only high profile events on the calendar. The remaining months with no activities will be filled in by any members posting up ideas on the forum, getting feedback and setting up the trip through discussion. We hope this method will add more flexibility due to changing snow conditions, trail interests and personal schedules.

We discussed this at the meeting last night and the vote for this method passed. Look for a new calendar to be posted on the club web site in the near future with dates for things such as, Brighten the Sangres, BV weekend, Christmas tree cutting etc.

So start thinking of things you would like to do weather it is day trips for hard or easy trails or expo type opportunities. Don't be shy of starting a thread. There are likely other people with similar interests.

I have updated the calendar as well as other parts of the webpage.

Kyle, get me a picture for the officer page so I can take that awful picture down from beside your name :hillbilly:
