Now that the truck is handling right, I'm trying to head out for a little ride this weekend on Sunday. Not sure if anyone has any plans, or has a trail they already planned on running.

Looking at possibly heading out towards Buena Vista area. Thinking about trying to run Iron Chest and Grizzly Lake, but I'd be open for other suggestions. We can always do Chinamans again if Travis wants another shot at that boulder...

Truck hasn't seen the trail since Moab and I'm itching to ride!

Ha! Man, that boulder is going to haunt me until I concur it! ;)

Unfortunately, I'm not available for wheelin' on Sunday (sugar-mama's working) :(.

I am 95% in. I was going to post up something about wheeling this weekend, but I would have chosen a bit easier trails. I think that Iron Chest may be a bit above my pay grade. I can be talked into running Chinamans Gulch again, and I think (hope) I could manage Grizzly Lake.

So there's a run going on in the BV area this weekend (stfoffroad.org) so it may not be a great time to head there. Not sure how big the group is, but it could be slow going on the trail.

Thinking we might head out Saturday late morning and do some hiking/geocaching and then camp Saturday night. Any interest in heading up 285 where it would be less crowded? Twin Cone, Red Cone, Radical Hill, etc?

Or if we can get to them from Cripple Creek side, wouldn't mind heading to Eagle Rock/Reynolds Wrap.

Any of the those sound good to me. I might bring my trailer and camp Saturday night.

I called up the ranger district and they verified that we can get to Eagle Rock/Reynolds Wrap through Teller County. Could make a day trip out of that?

Seriously, I'm game for anything. As long as my truck gets off the pavement!

Let me know where you want to go, and I'll make sure I'm there.

There's a clearing just a bit up from the trail head that offers a spot to camp. I'm sure you could get a camper back there if you were careful. Was kind of rutted out last time I was there, but shouldn't be a big issue. Google Earth the area and you will see where I'm talking about. That's also the area that Reynolds Wrap drops down to meet Eagle Rock. It's a good place to shoot as well if you're into that.

Me and the wife may head up early and check out Donkey Days in Cripple Creek and can secure a spot afterwards. Will probably get some shooting in as well since the wife hasn't fired 'her' shotgun. Ever. lol

Sounds good. I am remembering the ~10 miles of washboard road to get back there and thinking that the camper might not be a good idea :meh:. I might go ahead and bring it out, or maybe camp out of the truck.

I wouldn't mind doing some shooting, either :)

We are all in for this and ready to go. I'm guessing we will probably hit Eagle Rock sometime late afternoon. Probably around 4-5ish.

If anyone else is up for this, they can meet us at the Eagle Rock trail head on Sunday morning if they don't want to camp!

I'm thinking of heading up to the area Sunday morning. I will bring a friend from work. He drives a J**p, but He's alright ;). I liked your original Idea of Reynolds Wrap and then Eagle rock...maybe stopping for some shooting in the middle. Is that still the plan?

Also, I will have to make several trips into work on Saturday, and Don't think that camping is an option for me anymore.

Well, if you should decide to camp, we will be up there. What time do you think you will be at Eagle Rock? We will make sure to be ready for you when you get there. We can shoot in between or in the morning. Makes no difference to us. I'm sure we will do a little bit on Saturday night.

Yea, that area at the very front of Eagle Rock is terrible. Me and the wife will probably spend some time cleaning up what can be. It's a shame that all those trees have been blasted away. If I remember correctly, there's a nice hill that would make an amazing back stop to the left right before you get onto Eagle Rock. That's where I plan to shoot. I'm damn sure gonna pick up brass that's laying out there. Brass = $$$.

No worries man, I'm just giving you guys a hard time. I'm sure all the guys in our group leave with more junk than they show up with. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a bit of a tree hugger.... well, as much as I can be and still drive a behemoth that get ~12mpg on a good day. :hillbilly:

Have some fun out there this weekend, wish I was going.

Forgot how bad that area really was since I haven't been up there in over 2 years. People really trash it, and unfortunately, it comes back and ever says its the off road guys. Might not be as bad since it's shut down from the El Paso side.

Andrew: Had a change of plans. Won't be spending the night at Eagle Rock but will still be heading up there in the morning. Want to do a meet up at Rudy's and then head out from there?
