Trail Cuts & Maintenance

Folks, this is an area we, as a club, are adopting, it has the potential for tons fo wheeling at all levels and will be used extensively for Fall Gathering. It is vitally important that Yankee Toys members show up in force for the Swanzey cuts! I hope to see many of you there. :)

FREE LUNCH AND 1/2 DAY OF WHEELING as well!

Date: Sunday June 1, 2008

Time: Meet at 9:30 am

Place: Swanzey Post Office
486 Old Homestead Hwy
Swanzey, NH 03446

Directions: MapQuest Maps:

Trailer Parking: Trailers can be parked here at the Post Office for street legal vehicles. There is also an area closer to where we will work that trailers can be parked for non street legal vehicles.

Volunteer Incentives: Lunch, 1/2 day wheeling, and entry into volunteer raffle.

The Plan: To create a long challenging trail for moderate to extreme vehicle from the bottom to top of a recently cut ridgeline. There will be a need to construct 2 bridges, one 8 feet long and one 16 feet long. Both of these bridges will need to conform to trails bureau standards and have a solid deck.

Over the next 2 weeks I will be walking prospective routes with Todd from Little Monadnock Family Trails to expedite the mission.

Swanzey THIS SUNDAY!!

Date: Sunday June 8, 2008

Time: Meet at 9:00am, Roll at 9:30 am

Place: ***Meeting at Trail Head, RSVP TO Paul Regish***

Directions, Email Paul: Paul@Johnregish.com if you are meeting us at the trail head.

The Plan: On 04/19/08 Paul Regish, Bill Barnes, and Scott Hatch reconn'd an area for trail development within the boundries known as Rattlesnake Gutter. The area has a large abudance of granite steps and ledges. During the previous trail development this area was not developed, our plan is to concentrate on this area.

Bring: Gloves, winches, straps, bug juice, water, chainsaws, clippers, and your rig. We will be clearing slash from a recent logging operation, not dropping any trees. The faster we get this done, the faster we wheel the trail.

RSVP to Paul at Johnregish dot com if you're in.

For this Sundays (Swanzey) event -- Is there a list I should get on, what kind of tools should I bring, and will there be a problem if I show up in a small fuel efficient car?

I'm trying to let Scott know rough numbers, with you Yankee Toys should be there with 4-7 by my best estimate.

Gloves, saws, nippers? Not really sure for exact tools.

I'm driving my Accord, no wheeling required as far as I now.

No Piggie?

Afraid not, just ran out of time, I could have pulled it off but I didn't want my first real drive in it to be that far away. :) I feel like I used up all my good luck points getting the thing home from RI.

Great day today, too bad so many members missed it, but we did have a pretty decent turnout, and got a bunch done as well as get in some fun wheeling. Thanks a million as always to Dave and Lane, and also to Scott Hatch for making this a good fun (and safe) day with notable accomplishments.

GREAT TURNOUT!! Thanks everyone who could make it and we look forward to seeing folks again for the next trail cut. This property is nearly limitless for us and will be a huge asset to have around Fall Gathering. THANK YOU!!

Moose Mtn Cut?

Finally got one of my rigs on the road (I owe the local garage a few  s for help with the inspection sticker). Anybody planning on attending the upcoming Moose Mtn cut? I'm itchin to try this thing somewhere besides the back yard.

Do we have a carnage report on the sweet 40 that had the issues?
(sorry, don't know your name)
Make it home OK?

Lane

Made it home ok thanks to a great bunch of wheel'n buddies. Thanks again for everyones help, would have still been there in the woods whittling parts from trees...Ha Ha! Yup, fried my rock box hopping under full throttle, dam V8. only the low gear. Called Advanced Adapters and they don't make the thing anymore!
Said they have had one other low gear pop a tooth. Even though I bought it in 05 they said they'll send me whatever parts I need F.O.C.! And if they don't have the parts they'll work with me on a new orion. Props to AA! ...... The fuel filter in my oil cooler line held up nicely. Manual steering isn't that bad when your roll'n. And I've gotta get that guys name who's vice grip is still on my rear brake line. Just another day in the woods!

6/8/08 Brushy Cut List

Sorry for the late notice, but if anyone is interested...

6/8/08 Brushy Cut List
Date: Sunday June 8th, 2008
Time: Meet at 9:00am, Roll at 9:30 am
Place: ***Meeting at Trail Head, RSVP TO Paul Regish***
Directions: Email Paul@Johnregish.com

The Plan: Continuing old skidder trail clearing from 04/19/08 and 4/27/08 cut/recon trips.
Recon write-up from Bill Barnes: JACKPOT!!! I created a northerly ridge route that takes us to some of the toughest stuff in the area. We'll be months developing it, but first...we're cutting the access trail to it on Sunday. BTW...from the P-line...it's practically right under our noses.

Bring: Gloves, winches, straps, bug juice, water, chainsaws, clippers, and your rig. We will be clearing slash from a recent logging operation, not dropping any trees. The faster we get this done, the faster we wheel the trail.

RSVP to Paul@Johnregish.com if you're in. Then please respond again if/when you back out.

Moose Mtn Cut and Wheel Sat June 14 2008

Bring chain saws, brush cutters, shovels, gloves, insect repellent, and your rig. I will be compiling the previous cut info this week to plan specific areas to cut. Wheeling on Sunday? Let's talk it up.

Meeting place to share rides:

Park and Ride Exit 8 off the FE Everett Turnpike in Nashua NH - meet up and depart by 7:00 am Saturday Morning. I will be driving my Dodge Ram and I can take three people not bringing their rigs. Call me at 978-490-5268 if you would like share rides.

We plan to gather at the meeting spot at 8:30-9:00 on Saturday MA
DIRECTIONS:
Take I-89 North to exit #11.
Take RT-11 EAST into Andover.
The meeting spot is just beyond the intersection of Routes 11 and 4A at the Blackwater Junction Restaurant & Store

The store at the meeting spot has food, gas, air, and sundries. There will be some road travel to the property from there. You can park extra vehicles and trailers at the meeting spot.

The exact address is
Blackwater Junction Restaurant
730 Main St, Andover, NH

I am trying to get word on the condition of the Class VI access road and if we can get the trailers into the landing at the property. Non-streetable rig can trailer up Route 4 to Grafton, NH turning left on Prescott Hill Road leading to the property.

Please post around and PM me if you can attend. nea4wd.org :: View topic - Moose Mtn Cut and Wheel Sat June 14 2008

Swanzey trail

I went up to the trails this morning and marked off 4 more loops.
One is going to be Stock friendly, it's not easy but it will be fun!
With the other loops I tried to varie things a bit for the Moderate guys.
They aren't straight up the hill but they will be rocky.
I'll have a date picked soon, mid July.

Lane

Are they OK with Todd?

Parallel with the ones we cut last time up, still with-in the boundaries he showed me.
Scott did you get the e-mail concerning the property?
