Chuck and I will be at Rudy's BBQ and writing up the 2013 trail schedule on Wednesday January 2 around 5:30-6 ish. Anyone is welcome to stop by and throw in some input, or if you have a suggestion you can put it here and we will get it in. We'll probably be sticking to one ride per month in summer, and may leave out the snowy months like March and April. Just have to look and see. Schubarth has been our "go to" January run, but with it being closed , we'll have to think of something there too.

The 2nd is pretty short notice. I would think about a little more lead time but that is up to you.

  • Sam had an idea about a substitute for Schubarth but I don't recall. I'll send him a text.
  • Should we keep the August dates for BV weekend?
  • I would like to try out the Benson Cabin area
  • I may try to do another expo trip over spring break.

So this is what we came up with:

January 26 - out in the Gulches. Hackett, longwater, or metberry. We'll probably make that decision when we arrive.

February 23 - China Wall

March 23 - China Gulch

April - Open - This month is iffy at best with snow, so if we want to do something, we can just post ideas.

May 25- Medano pass - Weather and conditions should be pretty good this time of year for Medano

June - Brighten the Sangres? Not sure if this event still exists, or who the contact was.

July 20- Aspen area - Not sure on the trails because there's quite a few. I would love to see Lead king basin and the Devil's punchbowl, and finally get to see the Crystal Mill. In the 5 years I've been with the club, we've never been out to Aspen. I would like to see this be an overnight expedition style trip :bounce: (Maybe a 3 day weekend?)

August - Buena Vista weekend - dates to come

September 21- Lime Creek/ Benson cabin trail. Awesome trip, highly recommended. Like to see this be an overnighter too.

October 19 - Wreynolds Wrap/ Eagle Rock. A yearly tradition.

November - Open

December - Tree cutting event.

Dates subject to change, We just set everything the weekend after the regular club meeting, that way we can get together and discuss directions and travel options.

Nothing set in stone, any input is welcome

There is a great small campground down Lincoln Creek (towards Ruby townsite) up near Aspen. About 6 or so sights, and they are free. I've been up there on the weekends and its not full. Just a thought there. One of these days we need to make a club run down to the San Juans as well...

I think the trail committee did an awesome job putting together the 2013 trail schedule.

Hahaha, me too! I almost couldn't read it, it was smeared with BBQ sauce and had a frosty beverage ring on it...

I'm definitely down for another run to telluride/silverton. Went last year and had the time of my life. If you want to go this summer, I'll run with you.

I know I'm starting my summer vacation planning...I'll be making at least 2 trips down to the San Juans...hiking...and maybe have the 40 going by then...maybe! There is also a great little BLM campground on the Lake City side that is never full...on Cinnamon pass road.

The ones overlooking San Cristobal are nice. The one I stay at is a BLM campground about 13 miles down Cinnamon Pass road. Not on many maps and only a few bucks to stay at. You can also camp down American Basin...great hiking and wheeling all around that area.

Nice list guys - one of my New Years resolutions is to get out to more trips & meetings this year. Of course, I have to get my truck back together first.

Sounds like a bunch of fun times. With this level of planning ahead of time I ope to be able to make more of the trips. Negotiating now with the spouse.

For the spring break expo trip please consider "The Maze" in Utah. I can probably get a 4 day weekend at least off of work.

Yes nice job guys.

As for the Maze it is a place I would like to go. The problem for me is no pets allowed, not even in vehicles on the 4 wheel drive roads. Boarding adds a lot to my cost. I had been thinking of San Rafael Swell area.

The web page calendar has been updated to reflect the 2013 trail schedule. Post up if you want to volunteer to be a trail leader or send me a pm and I will update the calendar.
