both sides skipped, but only one had the misfire! belt done and now she's fine.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out.

I would assume everything else is in order? i.e. tensioner, idler pullys, etc...
 
What do you suppose caused the belt to jump? How many miles did it have on it?
tensioner probably. no idea, My uncle had it before my father and I just started maintaining it.
everything is in order now.

now thinking about where to get a frame and where to get some suspension, it feels like the active suspension is inconsistent with damping.
 
I’m having a similar issue on my 5VZ (mods delete of not allowed). The misfire is randomised, then also on cylinders 2, 4, and 6. My mechanic said it was a timing issue, but I’m confused why the misfire would be on only one side oof the whole timing belt skipped? Any more idea on what could cause this?

Have you inspected your coils and plugs?
