Rusty, there is a '02 Tundra TB available semi-near you for $125 at Dixon Auto Wreckers (866-343-4966)

No google used, http://car-part.com/. It's a database of thousands of auto wreckers/parts shops.

Thats a great idea  !

If you could find a used later-model assy for $100-200 to use as a spare , you`d be set .

Damn Les...too late for my parts order but great info just the same :beer::popcorn:.

"The Searcher"...hey this might be a name for a new TV pilot :D.

I already blew my wad with Lee... wait that didn't come out right.:o

I'll have to wait until further funding becomes available before I start filling the spares box.

And I think FSM's are higher on the list right now than an extra TB.

Sorry Lee, I'm just practicing for my pilot reality TV show where they take everything out of context and cause some drama. :D

It`s called " any auto dealership`s business office " :D

guys......I really didnt mean this to turn into a "replace everything" post....my 100 has IMOP been very reliable.....sure a pair of O2 sensors, brakes, antenna, dead CD player....but thats not alot in the 40-50K I have put on it.

edited for tech reasons...

So a low mileage junkyard find may be a good spare...

Good ideas guys.

I suggest replacing the entire truck with a newer model;)

Hmm.. I guess that would solve any soon-to-occur problems .. Except maybe with his bank account :D

I have to agree. My 98 100 has a lot fewer issues at 145K than my 93 GMC had at 125K. And believe it or not, so far, has been much easier to work on.

I installed the APPS or throttle lever assembly with sensor or whatever. The 100 lit right up and ran fine. I pulled the negative batt terminal to reset the codes, CEL is out. This definitely a  job. My biggest problem was it started snowing right as I began the job. My fingers were numb so starting the screws was tough.

I think I'll hold off on the TPS until after the X-Mas Tree run tomorrow. I'd hate to screw something up and miss the run.

I have this problem ( I chimed in a few days ago) but now it's not intermittent. The lights are on continuously although it only "limped"
until I restarted the car. I was on a major highway and had to slide over a couple of lanes to get to the shoulder and restart. At least I had seen it before. It reminded of when you run out of gas (A long time ago!) I guess I'll try replacing those two sensors starting with the cheaper one.

Later I was crusing along about 40mph on a winding washboard road and was doing a little bouncing and sliding. I heard the beeps go off, but I couldn't tell if it was working. Usually you can feel the pulsing and the tires almost feel like they "dig in". I couldn't feel it, but it may have been just too bumpy.

Do you think my VSC is working? Or does that light mean that the system is disabled?

You can go to most auto parts stores and they will read the codes if you have a MIL/CEL. Post up the codes and somebody here willl be able to tell which sensor is going out. From the sounds of it it's the TPS.

According to Christo replacing the TPS will not usually solve the problem even if the CEL indicates the TPS. Starting with the APPS may be the better way to go.

SinCity indicates above that the APPS has received updates from Toyota but the TPS has not. That also points to the APPS being the cause of these problems.

PO120: TPS
PO121: TPS

P1120: APPS
P1121: APPS

I have the P1121, so I guess it's the APPS.

Any thoughts on whether the VSC still functions even when those lights are on?
