Toyota TEQ repro mudflaps on an FJ40

Here is a picture of the current mudflaps I have on mine. I ordered the below TEQ ones from the gent on eBay after he sent me pictures of a few different types he had. He did tell me that the paint on them is kind of cruddy so to expect touching them up in the future.

Hi Guys
Has anyone seen these before.
Spotted them on a Barn find FJ40 for sale on Ebay a few months ago.

I thought I would just do some quick investigations to see if the mudflaps can be reproduced and found out that a company here in Australia is willing to reproduce the above mudflap.

Naturally there would be a Tooling Cost up front and Minimum Order Quantity per order (approx 200)

I would also need to be sure that by reproducing the logo there are no contravening any copyright or patent.

Can anyone give me any ideas how this can be done?

If this was a to go ahead how many IH8MUDers would be interested.

Or am I barking up the wrong tree and this has already been attempted.

Many thanks
Ian

I think you may get 200 orders of those. The question would be the price.
I'd take a pair for my 40-series.

Interested at the right price. I like the simplicity.

Depending on price, i'd look at it sincerely...

Hi Guys.

Below is the information straight from the company on an approx cost.

Hi Ian.
I hate guessing at prices because later on someone says ‘but you said’

I really need to obtain pricing from the Toolmaker and do proper costing but -

· Let’s say the tooling is AUD $2,500.00 plus 10% GST

· Let’s say the Order Quantity is 200 @ AUD $25.00 each Plus 10% GST

· If that is a Toyota logo you need to talk to Toyota Motor Corporation to obtain approval in writing to reproduce their logo.

So if you add all this up the total cost comes in at $8250.00 AUD and say we have 200 confirmed orders then that equates to $41.25 AUD per set. Plus postage

I hope this gives you a rough idea of the scale of the project.

So Mudders I guess its up to the majority to see if this is a project worth going with.

I really liked the simplicity as "myquestoyota" stated and they are period perfect to my understanding from 77-79

Looking forward to any comments

Here's mine I've had these for years now and are pretty rugged.

Diggin the flaps:)

mud flap mounting bracket

I made brackets for my flaps. A kind of a stretched U plus a strip on the back so the flap is mounted in between.

Have fun,

Hi there, I am looking for a similar bracket and I think this is similar to an aftermarket one. Can someone help me? I attach photos of similar bracket that I have saved for number of years. Thanks!
