Nissan Patrols are very rare in the states/Canada and were only sold years ago. For us in North America the Ford Maverick was a compact Ford car in the '70's.
Mike-I'm pretty sure the Chevy I6 shares the same bellhousing bolt pattern with the Chevy 350s. The swap would be basically the same as a 350 swap, only the motor would be longer. I met a guy at Rubithon who had done it and said it worked great.
Yeah, my take on it is that they were similar, but none of the parts were interchangeable like the legend says. I could be proven wrong, but just havn't seen it yet with my own eyes.

He said originally the oil feeds to the rocker arms were in the head and they used to get blocked and create problems.
I looked for those feeds when I cleaned out my valve assembly because I remembered someone warning not to plug them in a previous post. When I did`nt find them I went to the service manual and found the 3FE fed oil from the rod that holds the rockers. He must have been talking about the early motors, maybe the 2f.
Well the only light I can shed on one of your original questions is that on my 73 F I had an oil tube running up to the rocker assy. Other than the fact that I smashed it during head removal and replaced it there were no other blockage issues. I checked a few times here and there during valve adjustments etc... and there was always good flow going to all the rockers.
