Hey Doc
At least they pulled the trans to do it .
I had a wheel bearing/ hub replaced under warrenty without them even pulling the tire  with no alinement ( that was extraand not covered)
They replaced it again a month later 'cause for some reason the new one burned up too :whoops: and a free alinement since it was now part of the job when I showed them the svc manual says to check it after the hub was replaced and also take the wheel off too :flipoff2:
Parts Dept people good / Svc Dept is run like everyone who walks through as no clue and will pay for anything and everything they say is needed but the best part is most everyone does

I think I'll give them a mild verbal ass whipping when I go in Monday, but I'll save the real reaming for a letter I'm going to write to the dealership owner and service dept. manager, maybe even someone in Toyota customer service.

This was just complete innept handling of a problem. I now know why dealerships have a bad rep.

...wonder why so many americans like to do their own auto repair...

Doc, feel your pain. Man I could unlaod with a sad story about a VW dealer. Oh well.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks, I leave today (6 hrs and counting!) but have yet to see my beloved "tank" return.

The stealership phoned me yesterday to say that a couple of 'small oil seals' on the tranny were leaking as well "$15 in parts, we might as well replace them while we're in there".

I gave them the go-ahead, as I can just see them trying to blame any NEW leaks on these seals if I didn't get them replaced.

So.... no cruiser. I told them I HAD to have it by noon today. If I don't get a phone call I'm going to take a taxi to the airport and save the recipt. I'll take that off of the cost of the new seals.

I'm sure glad we are a three car family right now.

Oregon, here I come!

lol, I found my receipt from the dealership where they replaced my rear main seal about 3 years ago... it's been leaking ever since

I hear all of this...
I have had 2 gas tank recalls done on 2 of my 60's and since they would not give me the tanks even if I brought the old ones in first I went a head and removed the tank, changed all the lines, clamps, and what not before bringing it in. Then I would tell them that I had already replaced everything in their that could "break" on an old truck like this so that all they would have to replace was the tank. The other stuff would have not been covered by the recall.
ERICH

Likely the transmission input seal. They also leak.

Why did I ever leave Oregon? It's so much nicer here than Iowa...

The wifey called the Toyoda dealership this morning and chewed them a new one for

1. Not ordering the rear main when they recieved the car on Thursday

2. Not calling me to let me know they would be keeping the truck over the weekend

3. Not calling me by noon Tuesday and leaving me stranded to take a taxi to the airport.

So the service dept is eating the new seals and install costs. WooHoo.

I kind of feel bad about that- I mean they DID put in new seals and the work to put them in, I feel they should get paid for it, but at the same time... they've pissed me off so much.....
