I wish my LC had CarPlay but I knew it didn’t going in. The voice controls are terrible. It’s silly you have to use your infotainment for HVAC. Range Rover is the same way. Granted it’s not designed to last as long. Hopefully I’ll be able to replace the infotainment with an aftermarket in 10yrs or whenever the current one fails. I won’t try and replace it now because I honestly don’t need to rely on CarPlay to get me around. My iwatch 5 gives me directions and I can ask Siri to call whoever and it reads out my texts all while maintaining two hands on the wheel. I use XM radio for my listening. Works well enough for me.

That's an impressive list, I wasn't aware of all that. But, unless Toyota moves to an update model like Tesla does "over the air", then anything they put in a vehicle is out of date before it leaves the factory. Google/Apple/others will always be better, because they stay updated, not just the maps either. All the apps.

But maybe Toyota does this now? I honestly don't know.

I don't like driving with my phone in my pocket, so I have to pull it out anyway. It's just as easy to slap it on the mag mount, and when the Bluetooth sees it, the phone wakes up and my friendly Google Assistant is ready for service.

I have the 2020 LC HE and I cannot find a good place (other than a windshield mount) for my iPhone. Suggestions?

You may need to wait longer than 10 years. My 100 series, which we had for 15 years, also had an integrated infotainment/climate control system and it never failed. What I miss about that system was the secret code that unlocked the system, allowing me to use the nav system on the fly.

I've posted this in other threads, but here's some fresh photos of what I did.

I don't like having to fidget with mounts, especially the clamp-style. What a nuisance. And I really don't like having the phone up on top of the dash in the line of sight, being a distraction, especially at night. So here's what I came up with, this is my '15 which is a previous generation center stack, your HE might be different.

Found this mount on Amazon with a ball mount, and a "puck" with 4 very strong neo magnets. Whipped up a simple plate put of some scrap 16 ga steel I had, some 3M VHB double-stick tape. I put one #10 cap screw though a hole in the console as a backup, yes it's a hole in the factory plastic but it's really hidden.

Cellet Mount

I used epoxy to glue the metal plate to the back of the case on my phone, and that thing is SUPER strong, it never moves. Sooo nice to just get in the truck, slap the phone on the mount, no clips, clamps, or gizmos to mess with. It just stays put.

I've since added the head for my Yaesu 2M radio and several accessories to the panel where the ashtray is, including the switch for controlling the ML-ACR for my dual battery system, and I removed the factory 12V socket and put in a pair of USB style charging ports, one with a switch so I can turn it on when the truck isn't running. It's getting a little crowded, but I really like how it came out.

I use a stick-on magnet mount for the radio mic, it works great, no holes drilled required.

I have several of those magnet pucks in the truck and my other car now, they are super handy and strong. My son has a mount like that on the Miata that we autocross for holding the GoPro, and even when we toss the heck out of that car, the GoPro never moves.
