Looking for the torque converter plug location on my 99 cruiser. Looked online and on mud forum without luck. Can anyone assist with location via pic or diagram? Thanks in advance!

For sure...Yeah Ive been lucky not to have any transmission problems on the 100 series but I know the symptoms you described could be something torque converter related for sure but since we have a very low failure rate ( not sure if anyone has reported a torque converter lock up / function problem here ) Id start simple and check fluid levels. Sounds like you've got experience in that department.

Oh, just a random though on checking TC lock up operation. I remember someone mentioned this a while back and I try it now and then , works on my 4 speed....When cruising along in top gear with foot on accelerator, gently tap the brake too, the TC should lock up and you will feel / see the rpm change

I also have what could be confused as a pulsating on my GX470 while Cruising along at certain speeds. Don't be fooled by exhaust vibrations feeling like a pulsing , that's what I had going on ...Check the weights on your exhaust, the one on my muffler rotted out a few years ago...

Just some random / quick check stuff , may not be the problem but idk
The torque converter part you mentioned is what go me going down this solenoid electrical plug rabbit hole in the first place haha.
Do you mean use left foot on the brake with right still on stool on the gas pedal? Just making sure I understand this correctly.
I hear ya on the vibrations, which is probably a different problem my cruiser has also had…didn’t know about the weights, thanks for mentioning that. The pulsing I’ve been feeling is definitely something different and fairly recent.

Sounds like A/T fluid drain & fills. One issue doing these, and any done before by PO (unknown ATF). Is what ATF used. We can end up with mix of fluids, which is not good. Also important, is how and at what A/T fluid temp level is set.

By manually shifting. It may help isolate issue. Engine, A/T mechanical or A/T electrical.
I don’t have info regarding fluid drain and fills from PO, but he was Aussie and seemed to know his stuff about land cruisers, or maybe that just my interpretation given his accent ha! I’ve been using the same fluid for the transmission since I’ve owned the cruiser, but I suppose it’s possible I DID use different ATF.
Okay, I will try that manually shifting next time I drive it, thanks for mentioning that.
