Yea, well a lot of places charge premium rates but don't provide premium service. That is why I have only taken my rig to the shop once. It was a brake outfit back in like 84 - they did good work at a fair price and were rewarded with going out of Biz.

Hammer, meet nail.

If you haven't got the question answered by Friday, give me a jingle. I've got a '69 on deck to start a rebuild on then, and I can snap a pic.

I figured out what that piece was. A band aid for a previously missing piece. I trimmed it to clear the vent pipe on the spacer but cut the wrong end off not realizing that the hook part was at the wrong angle to use for what the bent over part had been doing.
So now I’m sunk. Not sure where I’m going to find another linkage piece to replace it.

I think that is stamped steel, not pot metal. You could weld/braze/silver solder the piece back in place.

You could hack saw/file out the missing piece from any sort of thin piece of steel - old church key, silver ware handle and then epoxy it in place. Draw what you need now while you remember what it looks like. Got any friends with a torch, or mig welder. Back in the day my dad would have it mended faster than I can type this.

I’m going to try and make one from a 3/16 fender washer.

I was able to punch my Fj40 up to 75mph on a stock 1f from 1971 and vac advance dizzy just the other day. Not quiet like a modern car, but she ran happily.

Also check points gap, set timing to probably 10 advance, and maybe change out your jet size. The modern ethenol gas is a no go for smaller orginal Toyota carb jets. You need to go up a couple of sizes to prevent slugish throttle
