@kreiten, amazing shot of J's truck, love the water still draining out of the door.....left a snail trail 15 miles long.
could always tell what line he was taking

Nope. I might head down to the scene of the crime during Labor Day and do some camping and telescoping. Maybe I'll venture down there too.

I have done staircase area in multiple vehicles. My 200 back in 2015. Great area and some wonderful trails and scenery.

Yep. Burr Trail is a definite winner. Especially if you can do the do the 3 mile spur out to the Strike Overlook trail that overlooks the Waterpocket Fold. All I've really done beyond that is the drive down to Grosvenor Arch. We had hoped to drive up from Big Water last February but the mud was an issue so had to forego that idea. I've seen good vids of the north half of Canyonlands. And then I've seen that there are roads off of Hole In The Rock. Have stayed in Escalante a couple of times. But have only been there in the winter.

I would love to check out all of these areas if we put a team together! @steenh has run Hole in the rock, he said it was simply one of the greatest trails he has ever run, maybe he can jump in and tell us more about it.

I haven't been on every trail... but I've not been on a better one than HITR, and I've been twice now.

My last trip out was with Smittycrusher in his 80... here's a video I put together of that trip.

It's a trail, modestly marked by rebar, but realistically done with GPS. It's one of those trails that can take anywhere from 2 - 4 days depending on how aggressive you want to get, and how many hours you want to drive. I've done it really fast, and would recommend slowing it down and taking some time... it's gorgeous. the trail ends with a 2 mile hike to the actual HITR at lake powell... the history is pretty interesting. Look it up. Short version is that a Mormon exploratory group took a group of wagons out in search of water, heading towards the river. They thought it would be a nice quick trip... it wasn't. There is one steep section on the hike where they had to lower the wagons down via ropes, and the grooves in the rocks are still there.

The trail head is in the middle of nowhere... ~3 hours from Mexican Hat. Nearest gas station is an airport.

Willing and ready to go again!

How did this turn out?
this is after about 2 or 3 minutes of burning massive rubber in the crack, it finally grabbed and this is him launching out of the crack!:) The tires were so hot it actually laid down a perfect print of his tread on the rock. Sidenote that rear bumper never came off on the trail, damn these LC bumpers are durable!
