TLCA presence at East Coast events

I will be glad to attend some of the west coast rides if TLCA would pay for some of the trip. LOL! I have the vacation and would love to see that part of the country. If TLCA ever wanted to allocate money to this I would be first in line to do it. I already attend several events in my part of the country (TN, TX, AR). We will be setting up a TLCA booth at the Southern Cruiser Crawl this year. That booth will be right by the registration table and will probably be manned by whoever is running registration at the time. I hope to have a few items to give to interested people.

I like that last comment from woody. I attended Moab for the first time in my life this year and would have been ecstatic to man a booth for one night. I was already there and could have helped out. even some of the club members could have come out and helped. but we were never asked so it never happened. our entire club is really motivated to join as a santioned club. Why i have no idea, but that has been the feeling since i became a member, this year i hope it happens. Beloging to a bigger club or purpose seems to be something people just like to do. I sure do. I like the whole atmosphere.

Would be more than happy to have a rep come out to our Fall Gathering event.
It would be a nice way for the TLCA to get out here on the East and get the word out.

I am still learning the ropes. I agree, if I was at one of these events I sure would man a booth for a night. but as you said, I pay to go I am going to wheel. It also is a good time to recruit for our own club when people are members of the TLCA but did not know there are local clubs in their area also.
woody we have a ALCA forum on Mud, how do I get to be a moderator of our forum?

Cruise Moab is one of the few remaining true sanctioned events. I have manned a TLCA booth at Cruise Moab and hardly got any new or renewing members because everyone was required to be a current TLCA member. Pretty much all I got was a couple of renewal extensions. Having TLCA merchandise on hand to sell would have been great though!

For many years I manned the TLCA booth at the Rising Sun Rally. Each year I would get anywhere from around 20 to 30 new and renewing TLCA members. The rally is an ideal event to recruit TLCA members because attendees do not have to already be TLCA members, same situation as open events.

Basically what TLCA needs is (1) get all these open events to convert to sanctioned and/or (2) focus recruitment efforts by the mother ship on those open events. There isn't a single TLCA open event that doesn't have at least one, and normally many more than one, board member attending anyway. There is no good reason those board members can't take a few hours out during event registration to promote TLCA membership.
