Well, here's your solution. Buy me somethin purty from his parts stash, hear the story, then deliver the parts to me.

Easy.

Great idea.... although, on the other hand.... I might just try sending him a PM. :flipoff2:

Not a TLC, but nice truck:

Beware of this guy:

http://victoria.craigslist.ca/cto/5164919547.html

I talked to him on the phone. He is in Delta, BC. He is an older guy, didn't speak very good english, but he did a facetime video call with me and walked all around his LX. It looked decent from the video. We agreed on a price, barring anything major I found while I was there. I was planning an engine swap, so I wasn't overly concerned about engine issues. We set up a time to meet at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal this morning. I offered a deposit to hold it for me, but he didnt know how to etransfer, and gave me his word it was mine on wednesday morning.

So this morning I call him and get his voicemail. It was early, so I boarded the ferry from Victoria anyway. Long story short, he left me stranded at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal. His phone is still off ignoring my phonecalls. I am very disappointed and discouraged after taking one of my very few vacation days and spending a couple hundred bucks on gas, parking, ferry tickets and a $70 Carproof report.

There was a red flag.

The carproof report showed a reported accident on August 4, 2015. I called him back and confronted him about it. He says he forgot to tell me about it, he showed me, via a facetime video, a small scratch on the trailer hitch and said that was the only damage but he reported it to ICBC. ICBC would not confirm or deny this due to pricavy reasons.

So either it was a scam to begin with and he is hiding damage, or he sold it to someone else and didnt have to balls to cancel our meeting time, knowing full well I was taking the ferry over. Either way, unless he had some medical emergency, he is a complete lowlife as far as I am concerned.

Oh and the wifi on the ferries is slow ;) /Rant

Sorry to hear it worked out that way for you; what a drag. Thanks for the warning though. Good luck in your hunt for an 80.

That front plate is an indicator that he has only had it registered for a short period of time. They ran out of numbers
so they changed up the numbering pattern. So if he claims to have owned it for a long time, that would be another
red flag.

Ok so update....

Just as my return ferry to Victoria is docking at Swartz Bay, my phone rings and its the guy. He is profusely appologetic. Says something happened to his phone, he was waiting for my phone call and thought I lost interest because I never called him. (At least he thought I didnt because his phone wasnt working)

He appologized 1000x and offered to knock a substantial amount off the purchase price, which I had already bartered down, if I return, because him and wife felt so bad.

I stayed on the ferry and went all the way back. He was there and truck was as advertized. He only had it a few months, he is the 3rd owner according to carproof.

Has cosmetic issues that I dont care about, and a few minor things, leaking oil seals in the front diff, cracked leather and the usual stuff. Diff locks engage instantly and it runs/shufts great. Best part, undercarriage has absolutely no rust, I couldnt believe it. So I brought it home ;)

I withdraw my lowlife comment. He was genuinely appoligetic. I am now on my 4th ferry ride today.

I went through the exact same thing last days off buying my Maggiolina RTT. 4 ferry trips, 2 days. I was trashed!
Glad it worked out for you. I was right about the plates, phew!

On a different note, notice how no one says 35's any more? We're all converted - 315's now. Yes, Rob we're all getting old!
