Same concept as a hand crank winch, the lower the gearing the less force it takes to turn it.

Right I gotcha.... is there a good place to look for these axles for sale... some kinda surplus military stores (even though it's swedish). I was always sad I never had the money when you were selling your other sets. I think these are the way i'm going to go. More for my mini truck though. As im sure you know it seems that the only limitation for a fj80 with those volvo's is the body and I don't want to trash mine too much it is my daily driver.
Hi!
I'm very interested in the way you upgraded you vehicle, as I would like to fit Volvo axles on my Range Rover.
As I've heared many things about these axles, I would like to have your opinion / feedback on these axles and thei strength and reliability.
I've been told that Volvo axles (and even Unimog axles) have not been designed for serious off roading and don't like side angles. When used under these conditions, they prematurely fail.
How long have you been using these axles? Which tires did you fit? Are you going for serious off-roading?
Best Regards
Christophe
Yes these axle are very very weak. They would never hold up to serious off road use. They will fail for sure with big tires slapped on. I would never put them under my truck. The stock ones are way stronger.Hi!

Haha... you're funny
I'm just wondering if you are serious or not?
