I've been wanting to get these fixed for a while now. I tried using relays to bypass the stalk switch to see if that would help...it really didn't. I was almost ready to buy an OEM motor, but had a hard time spending the 300 bux, so thought I'd try something I found on the off chance it would work. And it did. I got lucky and picked one of these up for $28 shipped, but the prices are around $50 now, $40 on eBay. Be warned, it isn't an exact fit, but it's very close and the modification was very minor, at least IMHO. Anyway, here's a link to the video I made explaining this alternative and it has a link to the Amazon listings too.

On Amazon and eBay search for: Wiper Motor Assembly for Land Cruiser FJ FZJ HDJ HJ HZJ KZJ LJ

Great info but that links just goes to Amazon and eBay homepage. If you could get an exact link, it would be great.

FWIW, when one of the magnets in my wiper motor housing came loose, I cleaned out and lubed the rotating assembly and polished the commutator contacts after using epoxy to glue the magnet back in place. My wipers have never worked better even in freezing temps.

I did disassemble mine and the magnets are not detached. I did polish the commutator as well, but still the motor is weak. This is why I had put a relay inline to handle the current load to the motor. I suspect the issue is actually the contacts on the back of the main gear, but to get to them I had to figure out how to remove the center pin without destroying the assembly, as the assembly is held together with one of those press on lock washer things. And there is very little room to get to the edges of the washer. I suspect there is a tool for the job, but I have yet to find it. Hence why I went down this path.
