Tire Wear

My front passenger tire wears a good 25-30% faster than the rest. Ive had it aligned and realigned and both places swear its perfect. There is no pull to either side, it tracks perfect. The tire isnt wearing at a weird pitch, its just wearing MUCH faster than the rest.

Has anyone else seen this problem in their mini? This is the second set that has done this, so unless in both instances I choose to put the bad tire in the same place, i doubt thats the issue.

Any help or thoughts?

Howdy! Maybe you are making your left turns a lot harder that your rights. Seriously, rights are usually square and very slow to stay in the right lane, but lefts are big wide sweepers and your usually trying to beat the oncoming traffic. Drive it like a BIG truck and see if the wear evens out. John

That could be, but doesnt seem logical. Most of my turns are left hand turns, Ive just never had a vehicle that did it this bad.

look it has been a long time since i was in to selling tires. but i would check your air pressure in the one that is wearing out. and make sure that it is even wear. what year truck do you have?

Maybe its the welded chain links under the hood.

Maybe, but doubtful. Maybe I should remove them and see?

Check if your idler arm is loose. It just has plastic bushings that are replaceable, but they are prone to wear.

check the wheel bearings on the side that is wearing.

all those things would cause abnormal wear he said it was normal just faster than the rest

what about if a shock was stiffer on that side could that cause it to wear faster

it would cause abnormal wear cupping usually.

I was having issues with irregular wear to begin with, Not bad, but had it aligned and rotated the tires. No irregular wear as of now, just a faster wear. Im gonna rotate them 2morrow and adjust my steering stops outwards alittle.

I watched how I made my turns today. Turning left I usually darted into traffic, but not as sharply as I did while turning right. Although, My turns took longer when turning left than right so that could be seen as more directional force being applied to the tire causing for a longer period of time, causing the increased amount of wear?

stop rotating your tire until you fix the problem. one tire $ verses 4 tires $. so find your problem first is this an ifs truck or is it a solid axle.

My '80 had a dragging brake caliper that would lock up faster than the rest...
