I just bought my 80 and it came with 4 fairly new Goodyear MTR's (I thought they were Pro Comp, but aren't) 35's. I'd really rather have a set of BFG AT 33's. I'm wondering what the odds are someone wants to trade?

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the FZJ80 with 16" wheels... but just in case I just took of my 33x12.5x15 BFG AT KO tires and have them for sale. Still need to take pics and write up a FS post but they're pretty new with maybe 5-7k miles on it at most, need to double check.

wrong brand

Since I haven't actually received the 80 yet, I wasn't sure about the brand and I was off. They are Goodyear MTR's, not Pro Comps. Just in case that helps.

They are the stock wheels, so I believe they are the 16's.

Thanks,

Pics please.

I don't have any photos yet since it didn't occur to me to take any when I bought the car and am still waiting for it to be delivered. It should be here on the first. If anyone would like to see marginal photos of them, they can be seen in the mud ad I bought it from. Just search "wb1948" in the vehicle classifieds on mud to see photos of the rig. There aren't any good ones, but you might be able to get an idea.

33s for 35s

I have a set of 33x12.50 that I would love to trade for 35s. Mine are MT/Rs with about 60-70% tread. They are listed in the for sale section of the classifieds. (on street locks) Let me know. I could have them delivered from Lemoore as traded out.

I won't be able to verify the exact size until the truck arrives - sorry.

I'm actually more motivated to go from the MTR's to BFG AT's than I am just to step down from 35's to 33's. The reasons I'm thinking of going this route is I don't really rock crawl and I don't play in the mud very often. I do spend a lot of time on the highway or soft sand with little things that used to rip up my General Grabber AT2's. So it seems to me BFG AT's are better suited to me. I also like to head to the snow when I can and, the 6 times a year it rains here, the road get real slick for the first 20 min. or so. I have been told MTR's aren't the best for ice and rain. The size thing is more just little things here and there. They have more interia so they are harder to stop and start (Longer braking distances and worse MPG in stop and go traffic). They also seemed a bit noisy and seemed to wander a bit on the highway, but they only had about 32 psi in them so I'm going to have to re-evaluate that.
Lastly, if I do have a tire failure while out on a trip, I'm guessing the BFG's would be easier to replace.
This isn't an urgent thing for me. I just thought if it was easy to swap for a good set of the 33's it might be worth it.

Although ..... they do look sexy! :hhmm:

Poop. I was wondering how the re-gear would affect me on 33's. I hadn't run the numbers yet to see. You are right though, I will have to drive it more before I make a final decision.

I say keep 'em. See how you like it. If it doesn't suit you after a few months, look for some BFG AT's. I'd stick with 315's however!
