hi yall, this is my first post!

got a question. i have an 81 pickup with the 22R. i rebuilt the entire motor with all new parts and it runs fine except the carb is a POS. it has hard start issues when it is hot. does anyone else have this same problems with the Aisan toy 500 carb? is it worth the money to go to a Holley or a Weber?

also, the timing jumped a tooth and i think it is cause of the old tensioner. is the tensioner supposed to have a lot of tension to where you can barely push it in by hand or should it easily go in and out and shoot out all its oil/hydraulic fluid?
the latter is what mine does and im pretty sure its bad.

thanks guys!!

yea thats what i thought. with it removed it blows air out the freeze plug lookin thing in the back when compressed. new one is only $15 and $25 for each guides. not too bad to keep it from jumping timing again.

now to find a Holley.........
