Timing needle cover?

Does the flywheel needle peep hole opening need a gasket/cover or does it hang out open like this?

What does the cover look like?

Here is a photo of mine, on a 1979 build 2F:

It’s in the center of the photo. A metal plate that rotates on the small bolt at the top left corner. Loosen the bolt and rotate the cover counter clockwise with the little tab, to uncover the timing marks window.

Thanks for this. That was definitely missing. Might build one instead of buying a used one for SOR. I’ll post it up if I go that route.
