timing issues

hi there, recently my truck (88 pickup) was running god aweful and i took it to have it looked at and i was told chain had jumped a link. i wasnt sure if this was true because it is an interference motor. but i did know the valve timing was off so i changed my timing chain anyways. now that its back together it just wont start, it sputters and gets so close to running it just wont acutally fire. so it must me electrical timing correct? i know the valve timing is dead on. i set my timing to the number one spark plug when engine was at TDC. not really sure why it wont fire. any feedback?

Is your spark strong? Check all the ground connections. Have you checked the timing with a timing light?
