Where did she end up at?

That Sunray 9"/portal/hybrid contraption had to qualify as insane money too, I'd think.

Luckily Tom had been dreaming of making something like this for years. Mind you, this was before the Hi9/Mega9.

Forward cut 9” gears, upside down in the rear won’t sling the proper amount of oil to keep the pinion cool.

Reverse cut gears at the time were very limited and not quality.

We had to use a 2.50 9” gear to deal with the 1.9:1 in the portal boxes. Front diff got 5.89 so close enough

Anyway, Tom came up with a geroter for the pinion shaft that pumped through the passages you see on the red plates.

We then use a single pad pinion disc brake for the rear Brake. The disc had to be a a vehicle size/thickness because it was for full stop, not just emergency’s.

Soaking wet. 180#

Crazy s*** for 2004

Ha! Same weekend. We barely knew the CLC crowd back then. We hung out with Heather (driving her 100) and the guys from Iron Pig most of the weekend.

Similarly dating myself 😂

I’m drinking a smoothie from a Metal Tech pint glass that would have come from one of the last two GSMTRs at Tellico or a Crawl or a ramble from the same era. ‘08, ‘09-ish
