My accelerator pedal is quite sticky or stiff for lack of a better term. There is no binding/pinch/kink in the throttle cable, but is quite worn and has a tough time "feathering" the pedal. Mechanic said the outer casing has rotted away and is probably letting in dirt/grease/oil whatever could get in there. He expressed his worries about possibly getting stuck at a certain throttle which worries me some considering im moving to CO from FL in less then a week. Ordered a new one, took a week and Jacksonville Toyota sent the wrong one! Now I can't get one till Tuesday and would like to leave before that. Should I postpone the departure and wait for the throttle cable, or just hit the road!:steer: What do you guys think? :hhmm:

Several ways to lube a throttle cable. If the outer sheath is rotted away, it would be easy to simply spray a lube which would soak thru the metal wrapping sheath. I use a "cable luber" from my motorcycle days...made by Yamaha. Other cable lubers may be available. Remove the end of the cable from the throttle body, clamp on the "cable luber", insert the tube from an aerosol can of "Tri-flow" (teflon bearing cable and chain lube) available at your local bicycle shop, and force lube into the sheath under pressure along it's length.
Careful not to use too much as the excess will drip out the other end onto your skinny pedal.

Once you have this replaced you will be amazed at the difference. Not like adding a SC or anything but you'll be very pleased with the way the new cable feels.

How much is the cable. I have the same issue with mine. Sometimes I have to push really...really hard to get the thing to go

Call Cruiserdan and arrange a pick up when you pass through ABQ on your way to Colorado. You might get a few volunteers to help you install it when you are in town. At least you will be sure to get the right part this time.

Mine was 70 or 80 bucks from CDan. It is a 20 minute job. Just make sure to check the adjustment of the existing cable at the throttle end so you set the new one to the same setting.

I used the motorcycle cable luber on ours and it worked great!
Great little tool to keep any cable lubed, mowers, crusiers, etc...

That is only a band-aide fix though if it gets worse a new cable will be in order.
