You said you checked the temp sensor and it was good? What exactly did you check?

Hey man have you checked your EGR VSV? You can test the resistance from the main engine harness. The correct pins/circuits are labeled in the EWD. If there is no continuity or no resistence, then the VSV is toast. Aside from looking up info in the EWD and FSM, it should only take 5 minutes.

Well, lets see, I don't have my FSM in front of me (and I posted that last post before looking at it) but I believe I checked resistance between some pins and then I put the tip into some hot water and monitored the resistance. Whatever it says in the FSM that's what I did.

No because it seems like the most likely thing is that port that goes into the upper manifold from the egr. I could not get anything in there to clean it out. I blew air in there but I have no way to know if that actually did anything other than make noise.

I'll check the FSM for what you are talking about. I don't have the EWD book, I have the diagrams in the FSM.

I should also say that my series of post might be misleading. I had originally had the throttle body off and cleaned it and changed hoses and all that good stuff like the thread says. I put it all back together and cleared the codes. I drove it to pick up my mother-in-law and it threw the code. I reset it and cleaned the egr and tested the temp sensor. I drove it again (the most recent) and it threw the code again.

So, when I say I blew air through the port in the upper manifold, that was AFTER it had all been reassembled from my work on the throttle body and chaging hoses and all that but after I had picked up my mother-in-law.

In other words, I might have to take the egr off AND the throttle body to somehow make sure that port is clean. Well, I could work in reverse order and if everything else checks out then I'd know I would have to take off the egr and throttle body to clean out that port.

Have you cleaned the EGR temp sensor?

If you have the 8-pin connector...

The solenoid part of the VSV can fail, giving you the CEL. This can be the case if the EGR malfunction occurs when the engine is warm but not cold.

So, from the diagram, I could check the resistance of all the VSV's from that connector. EGR VSV being the resistance accross contact 5 and 6. The others being 1:2, 3:4, 7:8. The FSM said something like 30 - 34 ohms for the EGR VSV. Does that sound right to you?

I checked the resistance between 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8. All pairs had 40 Ohms EXCEPT 5 and 6 which was infinite. Looks like either the wires are cut/open, connector is not right or VSV is bad.

How much is a VSV for EGR anyway??

EGR VSV is a little less than $100 from a friendly OEM vendor!

Nothing done on this recently; I'm getting ready to fix some rust. I did want to ask a question though.

There is a cable on the throttle body, the middle cable, that does not have the little "nub" at the end of it to attach it to the cam on the throttle body. Anyone know of an aftermarket replacement for that little "nub". The little nubs also broke on my middle seats so now I have to use a screw driver to release them for folding.

Do you all know what "nub" I'm talking about?

Any updates?

It's a 90 degree bend. I'd love it if I didn't need a preformed hose! I just want to know if the original was a preformed hose with a 90 degree bend in it.

If ordered from the dealer, it comes pre formed on a 90 degree angle,, also high quality hose. I replaced all my emmisions devices, i ordered all hoses and clamps from the dealer. Yeah I know,,, but all my hose clips were rusty, and hoses were deformed from many years of heat and wear. Toyota OEM is top quality

Yes they are. I am placing a order with Cdan tomorrow for all my Toyota parts.
