I do some aerial surveillance via satellite maps to see what kind of ambush I’m facing. This doesn’t look good. This is clearly some sort of ambulance morgue/organ harvesting operation. Like the kind of place where an ambulance wakes up in a bathtub of ice with a bunch of new stitches and is missing a kidney.

There’s dead ambulances littering the lot, and semi-conscious ambulances blocking all of the entrances, conveniently missing wheels so they can’t easily be moved.

Behind several layers of this crap, deep in the bowels of the building, lies the target:

I’m going to need some muscle.

Using a pre-paid phone I bought from a dealer on Summer, I make a call to my contact I found on the dark web. ”I need some mercenaries...”, I plead “... a couple of operators to exfil some hardware from behind the line. In very hostile territory.”

My contact hangs up, not saying a word.

Ten minutes later, a hooker walks past my shop and casually tosses a rock over fence, hitting the front door. WTF?

I walk out, look down, and pick up the rock, which is freshly painted green. The operation is a go.

The pre-paid rings. I am briefed with the loose plan...

They’ll arrive late in the day, tear it down quickly, and move it to the LZ for an evac at first light the following morning to transport to my shop.

I am to arrive at the scene beforehand with unmarked bills and mark the target for the operators.

The first part of the plan goes down without a hitch. When my team showed up, though, things took a different turn.

I witnessed a very intense struggle between a forklift, an ambulance, and a half-dozen very dirty people. Vital fluids were spilled on the ground, property was damaged, and tempers flared. Once my part was done, I GTFO of there.

Tomorrow by lunch we’ll know if the mission was a success.

I did my part, but before I could fully GTFO, things already started to pop off. I managed to escape unscathed.

Team ambulance took some casualties by their own friendly fire, but I was assured that our side had everything under control and, though plans had changed on the fly, we were still on schedule for an early evac.

Back at the safety of Summer Avenue (first time in history these words have ever been spoken), I need to clear out that side of the shop.

I roll everything around to make room for the lift

You need to write a book...

The next morning I’m woken up early by the pre-paid. Its going crazy with reports from the extraction. Everything appears to be going wrong.

Transport shows up only to find freshly disabled ambulances blocking the LZ. Fearing an ambush, he calls it off.

My crew finds another driver (think Murdock from the A-Team) who is willing to take on this challenge.

I rush to my shop, nervously excited, on the chance that they’re successful.

On the way over, it starts to rain.

I get the call that they’re coming in hot, so I open up the gate and get the forklift warmed up. A few minutes later we’re unloading the goods...

Those are some bad-ass looking dudes right there. No wonder they got the job done even under the most trying situation. You chose well.

Looks like Murdock brought BA Bracus with him too! A true A-Team job!

True undercover dudes. They looked rough and smelled like good weed, but they knew exactly what they were doing. They were intrigued by the LS swap into a Toyota - they do them at their shop but into domestic vehicles.

They were glad to be in a clean shop with AC, so we pulled the door down to get to work.

I had looked at the manual online and ballparked the measurements on the floor beforehand, making sure I picked the perfect spot.

They gave me some thoughtful input and we put the posts into place to see how things looked. After a few tweaks, he started drilling holes...

They didn’t need me so I took off.

A few hours later, it’s up, adjusted, and bled. I mop up all the spilled fluid from the quick takedown and push the 60 back into place...

My electricians came out a few days later to make the final connections in the panel...

Nice!

Meanwhile, my crumbling, oil-ruined asphalt is getting worse by the minute. I had maybe two or three more passes left on the forklift before it gets permanently stuck.

I got a couple of quotes to go back with concrete, which would be ideal, but they were higher’n giraffe pu**y. So, more asphalt it is. Not what I wanted, but we need to punt this problem down the road a few more years and get on with life.
