I've heard good things about SMORR, the park that GATOR was held at a couple of weeks ago. I also understand that it books up pretty quickly.

Any thoughts on holding our event there next year?

My thought on weekends would be around this time of year - last week in September or first week in October.

Let's get this going so we can see what our options are.

SMORR is a great park with wonderful facilities, it's closer, it's bigger, and much more family oriented. I would recommend giving Brandon a call, see what's available, maybe go from there. But it has my support :bounce:

sounds like a good plan...i really wanted to attend gator...just not in the cards this year...hell might not make dsr...maybe just one afternoon/evening...sounds like gator was a success...so i vote we give it a try..

Brandon at SMORR indicated that the last weekend in September (24 - 26) is the available at this time. If no one objects I'm going to reserve the park. Anyone want to reserve the whole park, or should we just plan our event for that weekend? Not sure what is required to reserve (minimums, etc.) but I'll find out and post up here.

Yeah!!!! FWIW, there may be some other clubs in that area willing to work with you all on this. We are planning on the Tall Corn Cruiser Classic as usual the weekend prior to Labor Day. Hope to see some TAC'ers up for it.

TAC is now on the schedule for an event the weekend of 9/24 - 9/26/2010 at SMORR. My thoughts are we keep it limited to Toyota, but I'm open to suggestions.

FWIW...It's worked really well for Tall Corn to do their event open and allow each TCC member to invite 1 or 2 non-Toys to the event. We all have friends that wheel other schtuff...that's what our thought process was on it.

So are you suggesting restricted or sanctioned vs open? Is there a financial benefit to one over the other? Usually the heepers and others seem to stay away from these events anyway, other than close family and friends. Plus it seems a little easier to market an open event until it becomes so popular we have to turn people away. Although SMORR is so large, I don't think we'd have to worry about that for a while :D

Might also consider approaching Ozark Mountain Cruisers about a joint event as they had mentioned interest in holding one at SMORR. Not that either one of us can't hold our own, it's just logical to pool effort and money towards a common goal. With that in mind, we'd want to do so on the ground floor, Mr. President.

Oh, and the dates sound great!

OMC would be glad to help you out with this event. Its only logical as its in our backyard.

The benefit financially is that an open event will allow more trucks in. As you said, the Jeeps tend to stay with there own kind but it is fairly easy to get friends with other truck types to come along if you open it up.

I agree with both notes above. In the past GFN w/ TAC has had a decent draw of somewhere between 30 and 60 rigs. This was a manageable group size, hopefully no one felt left out.

While I can see the potential of opening it up, I guess we need to discuss how large an event we really want. With the possibility of working with OMC, we've "almost" guaranteed that the participation will increase.

So now, to the question, what would you all like to shoot for for #'s?

I think GATOR had 60 + trucks and there was no issues with room in the park or the trails. Could have easily had more participants without any issues.

I agree with the ala cart selection. This way you will have more folks come on Saturday that possibly cant make it out earlier.

The only event according to the TLCA bylaws that can have non-TLCA members and non-Toyotas is an Open Event. That's how we did GATOR.

Glad to see we have moved ahead with securing SMORR. After attending GATOR this is one place I want to go back to and take the family.

Lets do it!!
