Hi To all
I love and drive classic cars. I have couple of e-type jaguars at my garage New York and I love to drive and restore them. I am from Turkey and I spend one summer month every year over there.
I came a cross with this fj40. I looks OK except some usual rust spots, rear quarter panels, rear sills, under drivers seat . I am not looking for concourse car anyhow . I am planning to keep overseas and drive causally, no offroading.
Every thing need to done , including tired 2f engine. But still running driving. They told me that down the road they keep all the chassis , engine , running gear and changed the tub with less rusty one. To me it is definitely unacceptable for classic car but in Turkey diesel swaps to 3b, chassis swaps are pretty common. Even the owner is claiming that " it is like a buying new tub"!!??
Same questions again
1. How much it is worth??
2. How do you restore it? Keeping stock or modifications??
If anyone of you guys evaluate the car and give me some info and guidance, really appreciated. I have tons of pics but only can post 5 in forum. I can e-mail you
my e-mail is tufankaraosmanoglu@yahoo.com
Thank You all
Tufan

what looks sketchy in the pics?..Im looking to learn..thanks

The bottom of one of the front doors. It looks deformed or patched or something. It's hard to tell from the angle of pic.

Since there was a tub change, ensure that the VIN plate matches the frame VIN. Check the VIN in Specter Off Road to validate year. It appears that the brake master cylinder is for disk brakes, but you stated it is drums all the way around, I could be wrong. For only $12k it appears fine as long as it runs, stops and all wiring works (lights).

It sure is a lot of work to replace the tub for another rusty or not so rusty tub. Why not repair and paint the new tub, go figure. According to the pictures, they took it down to the chassis and even removed the engine, axles, etc...why if you are only replacing the tub?
