Have an opportunity to go to a buddy’s vacation place in Mountain Village for Labor Day. Invite is open ended, as long as I want to stay. Just did a quick look on OnX and OMG it’s trail heaven. Is it crazy busy there during Labor Day?

See I’m spoiled by living in San Diego for 40 years and never needing to take a vacation. But after a quick phone call it seems like I’d be dumb not to go. Imogene here we come!
21 hours from Chicago to Ouray hasn’t stopped me from going at least once a summer for the last 11 years…
'Crowded' is all relative. Having grown up in Colorado in the 70s and 80s (my mother and me on Black Bear in about '73- this 40 is still in the family) and wheeled those trails since then, it's crowded every single day.
But by the standards of the Californians who 'discovered' it in the 80s, it's positively empty.
