I am driving my 94 v6 runner like any other day stopped at the light about 3 miles away from home. Light turns green and when i accelerate, i hear a car missing an exhaust like sound. Thought it was someone's car when I realized the sound was matching my rpms. Park onto a nearby street and my idle is rough and thready, sounding like it was about to stall, and there was a sound coming from my engine like I had no muffler. I drive back home, cursing to myself what could be going wrong, I was thinking a bad cylinder, which could be caused by any number of reasons. :censor::censor::censor: After staring at the fsm to do checklist of what could be wrong, I open up the hood, and take a look and I find out what is wrong. Driver's side spark plug completely unseated itself and was just dangling there. WTF So I wipe it down, screw it back in, and everything is back to normal.

Cliffs: Hear a sound, find out the spark plug completely unseated itself, put it back in, its back to normal.

Had it happen to me in my Mercury mountaineer about 5 years ago on the freeway, pulled off the freeway and found a parking lot. Popped the hood and found the spark plug blew apart. Asked some people where a parts store was, their directions didn't do me much good, and I ended up having a shop fix it for me. I wasn't comfortable driving it any further then needed.

A buddy of mine had it happen in a newer Ford truck except it did not un-thread, it blew out damaging the threads.

Blew one out in a VW bus. Put it back in cross threaded and drove another thousand or two miles. Rebuilt the engine after that.
