2X on these. I take 2-3 of these out for field work and have about 100 field days with the current batch. They have held up fine. My department also uses them for student field trips as well.

My only complaint is it is hit or miss getting the spigot pointed down.

use some Teflon tape. No more leak and more adjustment on position.

Is $25 a fair price for those 5 gallon Sceptor cans?

Also, I found them in a couple of places, some say U.S. on the side just above where it says 'water' and some have other writing, I cannot make it out. Is there a difference?

Thanks!

I think $ 25 is about the going rate for those cans, although I am sure some have paid more and some have paid less. I have two and am very happy with them.

Can't answer the other question, but just don't buy ones that say "diesel" or "sewage" on them.

i use this and have nothing but goo things to say about them, I left them full out side the sleeping bag one night it got down to 18* when i woke up they were solid as a rock. They have never leaked and use and abuse them when i go backpacking, they do well in the back of the 40 as well.

Actually, my dad has a couple of those, I don't know if they are made by Reliance but they have lasted a long time.

Guess they must not make things like they used to.

To quote an old man somwhere...:D

I have the Reliance AquaTainer cubical 7gals with spigot from WM.

Great so far if bulky.

I have two of them. I did break the spigot off in the cap, no prob ez-out and plug. The other is holding up ok. Mind you, they are 10 dollar Sear's purchases that float around in the back or a p/u or 40. Certainly not the stoutest mechandise on the planet, but...treat it like a 10 dollar item (when I bought it)

$9 more than the Scepter ones!

Not counting the $30 "handling" charge MAF will surprise him with when he gets the credit card statement.
