Awhile ago I purchased this most excellent 3B from my favourite friend named Greg and my favourite friend named Sheldon for a most excellent price. I bought it for the rotary pump, however, it never hurts a girl to have an extra motor kicking around, just in case. Anyway, this weekend, one of my favourite friends named Chris and I took apart the motor to see what was wrong with it. These pictures are primarily for Bruce and Greg as I know they're probably curious to see what exactly it looks like. Take a peek for yourselves if you like....

Hauled out the shop vac and sucked up the grime - cleaned it up a bit.

Ah. It's soaking with ATF at the moment. Will use some fluid film tomorrow and clean up the cylinder walls a bit more.

No. Pulled the pump off. Ran into a problem. Need to figure out how to time it properly.

Looks like a good core. You're gonna be putting pistons, rings and sleeves in anyway. Have a look at the head for cracks between the valves and look in the bottom end to see what the crank looks like.

Another bargain from G&S

Also, check the precups for cracks. Is the IP chain or gear driven?

Toss the precups regardless of how they look. No chains on a 3B but it makes up for it with leather and whips.
