Need to jack it up and do a spin test.

Never noticed the hop before?

Just run different tire sizes front and rear, no one will notice!

No "shame" in that... same as Captain Pinion Gear.. no shame.

Not switching ur fan on, blowing a hose and poo poo'n a little, running out of gas, hitting a tree and almost killing your friends, doing engine work on your 4runner and forgetting to put coolant back in... that's a different matter. ;)

forgot something there.

Definitely a shame on you. I forgot about that one.

I guess its past time for a new entry here right :whoops:. I shined the old girl up for the annual Jeep Jaunt charity run to raise funds for the American Lung Association Sunday a pavement run down 182 to the Casino and this is how she thanks me  Of course its the one time I have the whole family join in on the cruise and I break what I believe to be the outer birf on the short side 10 min from the house on the way home. It tore up the inner rim a bit and took out the tire too. Bobbing along HWY 90 windows down enjoying the weather and some tunes and as I turn off the cruise control and coast to the stop to grab the kids a lunch when I apply the brake it just makes a terrible grinding and comes to a hard stop. When you load up the drivetrain it binds up and won't go forward but I can drive it in reverse. The wife said I had some bad wobble on that wheel as well. Needless to say the situation called for a flatbed tow truck ride to take me in the rest of the way. Not the way I planned my afternoon. The shame of it is I expect to see Jeeps coming home on wreckers not Toyota's but in the same tone I have peace knowing this cruiser sees more adventure than 90% of the built Jeeps and 4WD's in attendance :D Since I brought it home in 08 from Dallas its taken me and the family home every time without a issue and with the way we use it I'll cut it some slack :) I did talk to the boss upstairs and thank him kindly for not letting it go out at 65mph on HWY 90 with my family in it. All things considered Monday gives me a new perspective and with spares in the shop I'll get started on it tonight :D

I agree with both of the above comments. We want pictures when you open her up!

No clicking or anything? Just straight to blown up? Wow! Like you, glad it didn't happen while cruising at speed.

No sign what so ever Mike coasting to a stop and that was it, of course I won't know for sure until I get it apart but that's what i think it is. I likely fractured it in Arkansas and some combination of events led up to it giving out. I drove it to work all week last week and no signs at all. This is the first one I've broken on any of my Toys I usually do well not put the frontend in a compromising situation for failure I certainly wasn't expecting it.

You got it, I'm hoping I can dive in tonight after the son's Scout meeting so I can get a parts list together.

hey man hwy 90 is rated a 4 on the trail list !

 you right about that bud it'll shake down anything that ain't right on the chassis for sure. I think they ought to test women's bra's on HWY 90 if it can hold'em down on that HWY the bra passes :bounce::bounce2: :D The tow truck driver said that rig is pretty heavy he loaded it to far to the the rear lifting the frontend a bit that 10 miles or so beat the snot out of us on HWY 90 doing 45 mph.

I pretty sure watching all the *eeps pass by was the worst part of breaking down. On the bright side ..... (I got nothing yet, ........just kidding locking up at 60 mph would not have been nice along with taking out a few other vehicles )

Maybe it wouldn't have stopped. Maybe it would have done a lot more damage if it was moving faster. Glad no one was hurt and hopefully not too much damage was done, except to maybe your pride.

Good luck with your findings. Hopefully not too much damage to the housing.

Thanks gents, Albert I certainly hope you don't have any issues bud you've certainly taken your hits this year and your right Ryan I had 45 min to reflect on the what if scenarios I thought about and the best one was exactly what happened I can laugh off the pride of breaking at a Jeep event no so if someone was hurt. I'm anxious to see what happened as well bud thanks

Feeling some relief looks like the lower caliper bolt walked out and caused all the grief. The caliper was walking up against the rim causing the binding and terrible noise cutting the rim. Feels nice not having to dip into the spare axle pile just yet :D A new set of OEM bolts for both sides and we'll test it again this weekend :) may need a good cleaning on those calipers theres pads in there somewhere.
