nice, torque is good too - I'm leaning against a doubler, but the time it's said and done, I can get a similar low range with an Atlas 2 without shortening the driveshaft too much. I'm only 3 1/2" longer wb over stock.

Good grief that's a lot of carnage on the front! With that history, I can understand your opinion. It makes you wonder if some of the axle wear/tear isn't contributed to the fact that the 5.29's are responsible for the gear reduction after upping to 37's. When the pinion gets smaller it's obviously going to loose some strength but does that transfer into more strain on the hub studs, steering studs, etc?

I'm surprised no one has freaked out about the 3.7 axle gears I run :flipoff2:

Half of that front end damage was with 35's and stock gears! I had the Longs before I stepped up to 37's and 5.29's, so I lost both birfs before then. I also lost the steering studs before the 5.29's and 37's...

That being said, in my 40, I will run 4.10's in the axle. I am running a TBI 350, SM465, 203 doubler, 3-sp LC case, so the crawl ratio will still be fine.

That SM465/203/3 speed doubler will work really well in your 40
