Rented a cabin up in Flagstaff, it was really nice since the road was closed to the public. We had to take a fire road to it. The 100 killed in the snow.

I wonder if it's a diplomat car?

Many years ago we would see big British Damler saloons parked around the United Nations in NYC that would have been illegal at the time.

It may well be, but no Diplomatic tags….maybe some special arrangement for low profile Ambassador travel?

Over MLK Weekend, I hit Death Valley National Park. I came through the east side of the park and camped at Furnace Creek on Friday night

On Saturday morning I made my way to Beatty for gas and hit up Titus Canyon and Leadville. A pretty tame and mild trail.

My dog and I then headed to Eureka Sand Dunes to camp and ran into @twosmoker and his friends who kindly let me join their group for the rest weekend. There was a really nice Chevy Colorado ZR2 with the factory front and rear lockers and bunch of upgrades, a Toyota Tacoma TRD Manual with rear locker, and @twosmoker super clean white 100 series

The next morning we headed out towards the Warm Springs and went through Dedeckera Canyon. My 05 truck without a rear locker couldn’t get up the steepest section at Steel Pass without assistance and needed a courtesy tug from the group to clear it. My front end and atrac wasn’t getting enough traction to pull me up. My truck is relatively rear heavy due to the drawers, roof top tent, and rear bumper. On my last solo attempt I slid back and dented the s*** out of my factory running boards. Could have been a lot worse if not for the spotting of the group as it’s quite narrow there.

The section at Steel Pass where I got stuck. It would have sucked trying to get it up had I been solo.

We stopped and took a refreshing dip at the clothing optional Saline Valley Warm Springs. Which are super nice, there was a hot shower to rinse off all the sand from Eureka Dunes

We finished the day and camped at the base of Lippincott Road

On Sunday morning we hit Lippincott Road to visit the Racetrack Playa and Grandstand on our way out. A little nerve wracking at the off camber sections for me.

We passed Teakettle Junction and headed through South Pass by Hunter Mountain as we headed towards home.

View of the Panamint Valley, you can see the Racetrack and Grandstand near the center.

We hit some nice mix of mud holes and snow as we rounded Hunter Mountain.

A pretty amazing trip and lucky to make some new friends and dogs!

It looks like I will be ordering rock sliders in the near future. After cleaning the truck this coming weekend, I need to climb under to see what all needs to be retorque after the brutal washboards. I know I need to replace a front recovery shackle which rattled loose.

Up in Lake Tahoe on Saturday, while driving my boy around working on getting him to nap:

This parenting technique has worked for us effectively. It’s dual purpose getting the kids their much needed nap and wife and I get to explore.
