Looks good! Wish I had a sand blaster!!!!:frown: What are you using to recover your sand? Looks like it makes quite a mess though

It does make a mess, but real easy to recover. I have a 3 car width driveway with a fence on one side. After sandblasting, I just vacuume up the dust and strain it. Its pretty easy. And it gets parts clean, but not 100% rust free.

Time off has done me good... time to have fun today

My boy and I hoped outside this morning and worked on the LV some.
Got the hood bib and 1 other thing into primer.

Side note: I have some interest in the LV's... but if they don't sell by the 15th.. I'm keeping them.

There are so many LV threads out there now... its very easy to live vicariously through them and not get anything done :).

Great to see it getting cleaned up and brought back to life. That's a lot of work ahead of you. Looks like you're doing it right. Way to go!

Thanks junky. I forgot to add that I did sandblast the body parts about 3-5 weeks ago. They sat in a dry garage, but just in case, I subjected all panels to some phospheric acid, air dried and steel wooled before applying some primer... no need for rust to re-occur

Mikesta,

No offence, but I hope you don't sell your rigs. You obviously have a passion for your rigs and your family (not necessarily in that order) - I love the fact that you take your son out to the garage.

Rig is looking great!

soooo i take it yiour keeping the lv's and your shopp full of tools?

Yes, thanks for reminding me. It is now the 16th and the LV's are no longer for sale... even if someone handed me cash for them... they stay right where they are. It looks like a 69 pig will get some attention this summer as well. I will work on the LV's as time permits... It wont be quick... but the goal is to:

Get Brando (this lv) rolling down the road, licenced and registered. And get Pacino..(my first LV) into paint and rebuild... frame down. Also to get no name's frame powdercoated.

Goal is August (before my 3rd kid.)

Thanks for the comments... It will be a fun ride.

No pictures tonight... but I spent a couple hours on Brando.

I got all the linkage put together for the shifter (except the 4wd). It is nice having 2 LV's... The PO took the engine/transfer/tranny out and some of the linkage went with it. I just went over to the bin of parts for Pacino and found what I needed. What is encouraging is that I am really close to getting this LV fired up. I just need to figure out how to join the tranny to the engine. I have a ton of manuals... going to sit down now and try to figure this out... if so... Tomorrow night the Tranny is getting a new home.

Mudders... feel free at any time to keep me accountable to my family... Expecially If you notice I am spending too much time on my LV's :).

Glad to hear you are keeping them and that you have your priorities straight now. Saw earlier you let some of your kids help. I am ready for mine to be old enough to help more. Now about all my oldest can do is watch or hand me little stuff. (Shes's 18 months)

Dont forget to keep us here on mud posted on your build when you find the time. (And dont forget pics we all love pics :) )

Brando getting disk brakes

Tonight I worked on Brando some... Therapy due to circumstances and events in the last 4 weeks. I prefer not to discuss them on this thread.

Tonight, I spent a few hours in the garage. Mainly cleaned the garage up. I have 2 bolts broken off on the driver side frame/fender mount. Cant get em out... Used this star tool that you hammer in and screw out. It broke off in there.

Replaced the fuel pump with another one I had kickin around.. hopefully it works good.

Then looked into the brake booster. Took a while to clean up and put back together.... decided to put a disk brake axle on the rig that came off my 69 PIG. I will also be popping the brake booster in there... but I need to research this process first because I think I may need to customize some junk.

Felt good to get out there. Brando has not been forgotten.

Got what I think is a 60 series front axle on Brando. I took it off of Cane the 69 pig which recieved that transplant before I picked it up. Might be off of a later 40 as well.. just dont know how to tell. Had pictures, but they arent showing up because the disk went bad. I'll take some more later

Nice work.

Not sure if you posted this, but are you going to do power steering as well?

Dave

Hi Warrior, Not right now. Maybe later when I figure out what I'm doing with Brando. Right now, I'm just using what I have to get him rolling down the road. It will need some new floors eventually, If I don't chop him in half, widen hima nd drop him on a 80 series.

Here are the pictures of the 3 hour start to finish Axle swap.

- Dropped the axle.
- Unbolted spring
- Bolted springs on disk axle
- hooked axle back up.

------------

I haven't researched the master cylinder, but the one I have was new... I think its for a 60 series?... anyways, its not going to fit without mods... might have to go another route.

Here is the booster... Bah. I don't know what to do.

It would require that I cut out part of the bracing for the LV firewall. And it would crash right into the carb. Bah! Guess I'll sell it then.

Hold on...There might be a solution.

A couple people out there sell these, but the link is one that Mark has/makes.
