You should just be able to swap bearings and keep the shim pack the same. I am 99% on that.

On another note I am replacing all the bearings in the locked axle I got from Zack and found a shim on one trunion bearing but not the other. It's that normal to have no shim under one?

I guess it depends on the preload. I would think it odd, but not impossible. Mine had one on each side when I rebuilt it a few years ago. Could be a sign somebody inexperienced may have been into the axle previously. How did the knuckle feel when rotated prior to tear-down? Did it seem overly tight or hard to rotate?

we bought it not running.

I never opened the axle.

What are you asking about? Working in the creek or just the clearing? Not sure about local rules, but I believe on private property you can do work yourself. In the creek you have to take into account the upstream and downstream and your modifications will need to not put more water on either of your neighbors in either direction. A properly sized culvert should be ok to install.

As far as clearing, I would recommend using best management practices like controlling run-off and minimizing siltation into the creek and you should be ok.

Here in TN I have applied for probably a hundred ARAP and 404e permits for utilities and municiple work, nothing huge, but have generally learned that if you are smart and are mindful of your neighbors then you should be fine.

I am going to be in a similar boat once the ground drys out a little and I can get out on the farm to start working.

Again, all location dependent. But I do know most farmers and private land owners up here in TN get away with stuff that would get a utility contractor fined into oblivion...

It needs to be cleaned up. I am going to thin it. I would like to get a forester out there to give me some suggestions, but they dont like to come out for less than 5 acres.

I am open to anything from a pasture to building a duck pond. I just dont want to upset ADEM.

Maybe I'll just rent this place and Kait and I can put a yurt up at your place? I can bring a tractor.

Someone had been into it for new bearings and the knuckle on birth sides moved/moves fine. Does anyone know off hand what preload should be? I'll check it when I get back to working on it. Waiting on new discs and pads now to finish the rebuild

Goodbye white rhino. Jon Held is selling his 3FE after 22 years. https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj80-fzj80-lx450-hdj81/793462-one-owner-1991-fj80-nj.html.

That's a lot of knowledge leaving if he is getting out of the game.

Sent from my iPhone using magic

Dude. He's one of the first people I met through Cruisers years and years ago through the 3FE email list. He came to a GSMTR one year and I finally met him in person.
I had actually wondered where he went just a few months ago... was thinking of him.

Who would you guys go to to set up a ring and pinion? I have all the bearings in just need it set up.

I don't pay and I don't have ads on android

Will your app let you go to the classified section? Mine will only load a blank page. I have shut it down, logged out and in. Rebooted the phone.

Yep, I can do more on the app than I can on the actual web site

Weird. This is all I get.

IH8 forum apps. Refuse to use them.
I'm also only getting Candy Crush redirects from mud. No other forum. And it's getting out of hand. Almost to the point that I don;t even come here while on my iPhone.

I've got the tap talk app. I think it sucks. Its the one the site says to use when you go to ih8mud on chrome.
This app is the only thing I haven't liked about switching to android. Well, that and the copy paste select isn't as good/as straightforward.

My other images didn't load? Or aren't showing for me. This is my add.

Zack delete the app and try reloading it mine looked like that when the app was updated a few weeks ago. I deleted and downloaded again and now all is well. The iPhone and android app are very similar in form and function.

I just realized the link doesn't take you to tap talk. I'm using something from tie rod media. Which is the only thing that comes up when I search ih8mud. Downloading "tap talk" now. I think.

"Tap talk" looks the same, but I actually have less mobility around the forum than with the other. I need what ever you are using.
